Hi, since I loaded the latest code received from you, I have been getting a number of complaints from the client that the site is down all the time with the URL error message...

http://www.saice.org.za/Default.asp...&content=0

The site is being hosted by a 3rd party and they have configured it to run in its own unique pool.

Please can you let me know if there is anything I can do?

Thanks
Robin

http://www.saice.org.za/Default.aspx?tabid=36 is the url of home page so there is no UDM module coming into play.
I navigated through the site now and it works very fast, no errors.

BTW - the site would certainly profit from our SEO URL Provider

Hi Thanks for the reply. The problem I have is that the error is intermittent and the site logs indicate that there are a number of SQL connections open which are not being closed. So the site runs out of resources and produces the error message in the URL I posted previously. It just so happens that I was accessing the home page and clicked on the "Login" link at the time. The error can manifest its self when accessing any page on the site, but the trend has been when members are doing a search on the site using the UDM module.

I will certainly look at the SEO module, but the client will not buy anything else from me unless I can resolve their currrent problem.

Kind regards
Robin

Just to make sure - you are running UDM 3.5.3 ?
Could you run SQL Profiler trace while doing UDM search and email the trace to support@ ?

We are using UDM 3.5.3.
How do I setup the SQL Profiler trace? Can it be done from Host or does it need to be done on the server. If on the server I need to get the hosting company to do it and they will require precise instructions on what to do.

It has to be done on SQL server.
This would probably mean extra costs.
I'll run tests on our servers to see if the module leaves open SQL connections.
If there are dnn event log entries related directly to timeouts and the UDM please email them to support@

We have done some further investigation together with the hosting company and have found that the UDM module is behaving itself - when you perform a search, it opens connections to the DB and closes these connections once the search has been completed.

Thanks for all the assistance.

FYI It turns our that the core Store module is causing the problem by not closing off the SQL connections it makes.

Best regards
Robin
